About this experience
Leave Reykjavik behind for a private day in the Icelandic Highlands, in a Super Jeep built for the rough gravel tracks to Landmannalaugar. The vehicle and your local driver-guide are only for your group, so the pace is yours. Your guide meets you at your accommodation or cruise terminal with a VAREN name tablet, helps with your bags and has water on request.
On the way you stop at Sigöldugljúfur, the Valley of Tears, where a turquoise river runs past small waterfalls, at the red-rimmed Ljótipollur crater lake and at Frostastaðavatn. At Landmannalaugar you have time to walk among colourful rhyolite mountains and lava fields, then relax in the natural hot spring.
In the Highlands, weather and road conditions decide the day, so stops may change. The Super Jeep takes up to 5 guests, one price per vehicle.

Sit back and enjoy the changing landscapes as you leave the city behind.
Make a short stop in the town of Hella to use the restrooms, grab refreshments, or pick up any last-minute supplies. This is the final opportunity before entering the remote Highlands, where facilities are very limited. Soon after, the paved roads give way to rugged mountain tracks.
Visit one of Iceland's hidden Highland gems, where a turquoise river winds through a dramatic canyon lined with countless waterfalls. Enjoy a short walk to the viewpoint and take in the peaceful scenery away from the crowds. It's a perfect stop for photography and nature lovers.
Discover the striking volcanic crater of Ljótipollur, where a deep blue lake sits within vivid red volcanic slopes. The colorful landscape provides one of the most impressive views in the Highlands. Learn about the powerful volcanic forces that created this unique natural wonder.
Pause beside this beautiful Highland lake, surrounded by Landmannalaugar's famous rhyolite mountains. The reflections on the water and colorful volcanic scenery create a peaceful atmosphere. Take time to enjoy the untouched wilderness and capture memorable photos.
Spend time exploring Landmannalaugar's colorful mountains and lava fields on a guided walk. Relax in the famous natural geothermal hot spring if you wish, and enjoy your packed lunch surrounded by Iceland's incredible Highland scenery.
On the return journey, your guide may stop at Rauðaskál Crater and the beautiful Hjálparfoss Waterfall if road and weather conditions allow. These optional stops offer even more opportunities to experience Iceland's volcanic landscapes and scenic waterfalls. The exact route may vary depending on Highland conditions.
