About this experience
We are the highest rated Northern Lights tour in Iceland because we have realized that entertainment is a crucial part of the excursion, especially if we have to wait for the Aurora to come out.
We have free retries if you don't see the aurora on your first try, hot chocolate and Gingerbread to warm you up.
The Tour is educational, engaging and entertaining as you will learn about the science and mythology of the northern lights as well as engage in an active chase of the Northern Lights. We depart from Reykjavik.
We are professional Photographers armed with high end equipment able to capture the memories with in high definition, much better than any phone camera can accomplish.
If you want an epic picture we also have some Viking props to take fun pictures, lots of fun and laughter.
We only use minibuses with extra heaters that we keep warm throughout the night so you can always retreat inside to a warm car if you get cold.

Planning perspective
How I’d plan this experience
I’d choose this Reykjavik departure for a northern-lights night when I wanted more than a quick roadside sighting: the appeal is a small-group chase paired with a guide who explains the phenomenon, keeps the evening lively and takes professional aurora photographs. It is a particularly sensible fit if you have some flexibility in your itinerary, because the lights remain weather- and conditions-dependent even with careful forecasting.
Who I think this tour suits
I’d recommend it to first-time aurora seekers, couples and families with children aged seven and over who would value guidance over doing the nightly forecast-and-driving calculation themselves. The group is capped at 18, which should feel more personal than a large coach while still being a shared outing rather than a private one.
The included photos are a meaningful advantage if recording the moment matters to you. Phone photography is not the focus here; the guide takes the aurora pictures, leaving you freer to watch the sky rather than spend the whole stop adjusting settings.
Choose it for the chase, not a fixed destination
My advice is to pick this only if you are comfortable with an evening whose route is decided by the conditions. The itinerary changes location according to the forecast, using current technology and science to pursue the strongest opportunity. That is the right approach for aurora hunting, but it means this is not the tour for someone who wants a named scenic stop or a predictable sightseeing route.
The educational and playful extras make the waiting time more purposeful. Explanations of aurora science and mythology, hot chocolate and gingerbread, plus optional Viking outfits and props, give the night some structure if the search requires patience.
Plan for an unhurried evening outdoors
I’d keep the whole evening open rather than treating this as a strict four-hour appointment. The stated duration spans three to six hours, and pickup itself can take up to 30 minutes after the advertised start. That variability is a practical trade-off of travelling to whichever area offers the best chance that night.
For comfort, I think the heated minibus, hot drink and the option to retreat indoors are useful, especially for travellers uneasy about standing in the cold. Still, the experience involves going outside to look for the lights, so warm clothing remains the sensible expectation rather than relying on the vehicle alone.
The key trade-off: seeing the lights is not assured
I’d schedule this early in a Reykjavik stay if possible, because the useful safety net is a free retry when no aurora appears on the first attempt. Feedback also shows that a first night can produce nothing before a successful second outing, so a retry is more valuable when you still have another available night.
Do note the limit: the retry belongs to the original participant, so it is not a transferable spare ticket for a companion. This makes the tour strongest for travellers who can stay flexible, rather than those with only one fixed evening and no room to return.
